City Offices Closed for Thanksgiving
Longmont city government observes Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 25, as a holiday. The following facilities will be CLOSED: Civic Center, Development Services Center, Library, Senior Center, Museum, and Tree Limb Diversion Center. There will be no trash or recycling collection; it will be collected on Friday.

Some City Council Meetings Cancelled
The November 30 city council meeting has been cancelled. The December 7 regular session, the December 14 study session, and the December 21 regular session will be held as scheduled. The December 28 and January 4 city council meetings also are cancelled. For information call the City Clerk’s Office at (303) 651-8649.

Free Friday Parking for the Holidays
From Friday, November 26, through Friday, December 31, time-limit parking restrictions will not be enforced on Fridays in downtown Longmont parking lots. Volunteer for FasTracks Advisory Committee
The Regional Transportation District (RTD) is inviting letters of application from residents interested in serving on the volunteer FasTracks Citizens Advisory Committee. The committee advises RTD on matters relating to implementation of the voter-approved FasTracks program. Letters of interest must be received by the close of business on Wednesday, December 1. Light A Candle at the Library
Light A Candle begins at the Library on Saturday, November 27, and runs through December 12. Sponsored by the Friends of the Longmont Public Library, this annual fund-raising event lets the entire community support the Library through purchasing and donating selected books and other materials. Parade Application Deadline is November 29
Longmont Recreation Services is seeking applications for the 2010 Longmont Lights Holiday Parade to be held at 5 pm on Saturday, December 11. The fee is $35 for nonprofits/$50 for businesses and for-profit organizations. Recreation Thanksgiving Hours
Longmont Recreation Services offers a variety of activities on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov 25. While the Ice Rink, the Longmont Recreation Center and the St Vrain Memorial Building will be closed, two Thanksgiving Day fitness classes will be offered at the St Vrain Memorial Building from 7am-8:30am: Boot Camp and Cardio Sculpt. Centennial Pool will be open from 7am-11am with two Turkey Buster fitness class options available at 9am: Water Fitness and Indoor Biking. Frida Kahlo: Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray
Now through January 2, 2011, the Longmont Museum at 400 Quail Road presents a very special exhibit on Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, through the eyes and photographs of Nickolas Muray. The photographs, dating from 1937 to 1951, bring to light Kahlo’s deep interest in her Mexican heritage, her life and the people significant to her. Admission is free. Quilt Show and Tea Time at the Callahan House
On Saturday, November 20, and Sunday, November 21, the Callahan House at 312 Terry Street is hosting a Quilt Show and Tea Time event to raise funds for a new gazebo. The house opens at 2 pm both days for quilt viewing, and seating for tea is available at 2 pm and at 4 pm. The cost for tea and quilt viewing is $10 per guest and $5 for children ages 5 to 10.
