Since 1966, the Longmont Symphony Orchestra (LSO) has provided an opportunity for area residents and classical musicians to experience and perform live symphonic music through a variety of outreach programs, classical concerts and community events.

Their mission is to foster and promote the appreciation and understanding of symphonic music through performances and educational programs. Each year, the orchestra performs over 12 concerts, which are enjoyed by more than 15,000 people. Although the Longmont Symphony Orchestra primarily services citizens of the City of Longmont, its sphere of influence includes the entire St. Vrain Valley, including other communities in Boulder, Weld, Larimer, and Adams Counties.

The Agricultural Heritage Center
The Lohr/McIntosh Farm is located at 8348 Ute Highway 66 in Longmont, west of Hover Road on the way to Lyons. The farm has been turned into an agricultural heritage site where the public is invited to take tours and hear about the history of the farm that occurred between 1900 and 1925. The site is open from 10:00am to 5:00pm Fridays through Sundays and tours begin at 11:00am. Admission is free. Call 303-776-8848 or visit their website.

Barbour Ponds State Recreation Area
Family oriented fishing and camping area East of Longmont with a nature trail named Successional Stage of the Wetlands near I-25 & Hwy. 119.

Historic Callahan House
An imposing 1892 Victorian home listed on the National Register. The formal Italian gardens are open to the public and available as rental facilities for weddings, meetings and parties.  Located at 312 Terry St. Longmont - available every second Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. beginning in June through the month of September. Hover Home
Hoverhome is a late Tudo Revival home constructed in 1913-1914 for Charles and Katherine Hover. Designed by the Denver architectural firm of Roeschlaub & Roseschlaub, the 6,000 square-foot house was built according to 56 pages of detailed specifications calling for "all materials and workmanship to be of the finest quality throughout". This home is part of the National Register Historic District being preserved for the community by the St. Vrain Historical Society. Located at 1309 Hover Road, Longmont. Longmont Memorial Rose Garden
The rose garden was started in 1945 by former Longmont Lions Club President, the late Theodore Schey. The garden is dedicated to veterans of all wars. In 1952, the garden was placed on the National Recognition listing and became an All-American Rose Selection Public Garden. Most of the roses are A.A.R.S. Winners. Old Mill Park
This is the site of an old mill house, two log cabins, and historic homes with artifacts from pioneers who settled the St. Vrain Valley from 1859 to 1890. Its lovely gardens and gazebo make it a welcome spot to break for lunch.

Old St. Stephen's Church
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this red brick church was built in 1881. It's located right on Main street at 470 Main St., Longmont, CO. Call 303-651-6130 or 1-800-728-6120 for more information. It is currently the offices for the St. Vrain Historical Society.

Ryssby Church
Ryssby Church was built in the mid-1880's by Swedish immigrants. Regular Swedish services were held at Ryssby until they merged with the Elim Lutheran Church in Longmont in 1914. St. Vrain Canyon
Scenic, historic canyon named for mountain man Ceran St. Vrain. Highway 66 West to Lyons, then follow Highway 7 West of Lyons.

St. Vrain Greenway
St. Vrain Greenway extends approximately three miles from Main Street to Golden Ponds Park and Nature Area. The greenway is a habitat for native and migrating wildlife.

Sunflower Farm
Offers many activities for children including "Kid's Farmfest" which is an old fashioned farm outing that includes pony rides, petting zoo, giant sandbox and a tree house. Located in Longmont at 11150 Prospect Road. Fees are $7 for kids and $3 for adults. Call 303-661-0954 for details.

Tower of Compassion
Given to Longmont in 1972 by the Kanemoto Families, this Oriental pagoda symbolizes compassion, which plays large part in all religions. The pagoda has five levels - each symbolizing an element of true companssion; Love, Empathy, Undertanding, Gratitude, and Giving Selfessly of oneself. Lights on the different levels make nighttime viewing worthwhiles.

Vance Brand Civic Auditorium
The auditorium was named in honor of Longmont native and American astronaut Vance Brand. Hosts the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, Longmont Chorale, and other community events, plays and other activities.

Museums and Art

The Dougherty Museum located 1 mile South of Longmont on US Hwy. 287. It is filled with more than 150 antique cars, musical instruments and farm equipment dating back to 1902. The museum is open from June 1st and will close this year August 26th. Hours: Friday - Sunday 10:00am - 4:00pm, admission is $4/per adult, $3/per children (6 -12), Children under 6 are free. Visitors are required to pay for entrance to the museum only once per season. For more information or to arrange a group tour call 303-776-2520.

Longmont Museum & Cultural Cente

The Sandstone Ranch Visitor Center is the former Morse Coffin homestead site. Displays on the local environment and history of the house are available to visitors every Tuesday from 9 am to Noon and on the second and fourth Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm through October. Admission is free.
The Sandstone Ranch Visitor Center is located on Highway 119, one mile east of Weld County Road 1. Turn south at the easternmost entrance (the Sandstone Ranch District Park entrance) next to the Chevrolet dealer and follow the signs to the Visitor Center parking lot.
